Xiaomi Black Shark Review
Xiaomi Black Shark
An uncompromising gaming experience on the cheap. This is what Xiaomi is aiming for his second-best gaming phone, the Black Shark is 4. This is pretty much everything that the Pro version has, however, play down the chipsets to the Snapdragon 870. And the sum of the main 64MP camera and a 48MP one. It may sound like a considerable angle, but the competitive price tag of just €500 is enough to convince you to get started. And the Black Shark and 4, the two of them.
On top of the standard 144Hz OLED panel, Xiaomi has taken the other game-specific features. As is the physical axis of the trigger. It may not seem like a lot, given to the Asus, and something to do the same. But they are a physical, clickable button. And there’s no better way when it comes to gaming.
Xiaomi Black Shark space at a glance
The handset is also equip with a set of powerful speakers, and a proper cooling system in order to see the show. However, the camera is set up to only cover the bare minimum. Then again, it’s not what you are looking for if you’re already here, and the view of a gaming phone review.
The thing that worries us the most is the below-average battery capacity of 4500 mAh. Hopefully, the extra-fast-120W charging to ensure charging sessions are as short as possible. Xiaomi, a fully charged in just 17 minutes.
It is also important to note that if you are living outside of China. The Pro model is more likely to reach the in any case, this model is as good as it gets, from the to the Black Shark. 4 it is a China-only, exclusive of the time of this writing, as the non-Pro model is concerned. The task is to challenge the Snapdragon 888-equipped. The nubia Red Magic 6, which are located in the same price range.
Xiaomi Black Shark 4 Unboxing
The Black Shark’s 4 comes in a standard box, which weighs a bit more than expected, mainly due to the chunky, 120W charger. In the event that you are in China as well as a reviewer. However, as the global variant of the phone comes with a one-67W charger instead. USB-A to USB-C cable for charging and data transfer, is also on hand, along with a hard, plastic, semi-transparent, as a bonus.
It does not wrap around the entire phone, and we can’t say that it provides a good grip. On the upside, it does not make your phone bulky than it already is.
Xiaomi Black Shark 4 Design
The Black Shark and 4 assumes a typical glass sandwich build, but, in contrast to our expectations, and the official specs sheet doesn’t mention that the Gorilla Glass on all of them. So, we are assuming that ordinary glass has been use not only for the back but the front as well. Side of the frame, which looks and feels like anodized aluminum, but we can’t confirm for sure.
In view of the weight of 210g, however, it is possible that Xiaomi has in fact made use of glass and metal on the chassis. The battery is definitely not a major contributor to the total weight of which there is only about 4,500 mAh battery capacity. On the other hand, the cooling system should be able to tip the scales. As far as distribution goes, the phone feels a bit top-heavy, but it is a balanced whole. The long game does not seem to cause any discomfort.
One-hand operation, however, is a bit of a challenge. The phone has a long-6.67-inch display, you can reach the upper limits are hard. The more aggressive the curves of the back and help out a little bit.
Speaking of the back, it has a cool pattern, typical of the Black Shark. The style of which it changes when you switch your phone on the other side. The gradient, which almost makes it look like brushed aluminum. At least, the Mirror, the Black version of the phone that we’ve been given. The color and the design as well to make spots and fingerprints easy to notice.
The camera bump is pretty rare for 2021 at the latest trends today. The shape of the module is consistent with the Black Shark and its aesthetics of, and because the body of the handset is on the thick side, the bump does not stand out as much. It is almost flush with the back panel.
Unlike the majority of the game, the phones, the Black Shark 4 is a punch-hole golf course in the place to be to use a thicker top bezel. This means that the front-facing camera gets in the way. Then again, we should give credit to Xiaomi, to pull out of such a small cut-out for the camera. The hole is really small, but it is a small part of the screen to be disable. You can still turn off “the notch,” from the settings menu, of course.
Xiaomi Black Shark 4 Display
The Black Shark and 4 can not be a true flagship gaming in the hand, with a view to its Snapdragon 870 chipset, but the display will probably not make this argument is partially valid. It is no different from that of the Snapdragon-888-run Pro version of the phone. With a 6.67-inch OLED panel is use, with a 1080 x 2400px resolution and 20:9 aspect ratio. Xiaomi announces the 105% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, and 500 nits of maximum brightness of the screen.
Without a doubt, the most important feature is, however, a 144Hz refresh rate, and it is unmatch in 720Hz-touch technology. Which is quite possibly the lowest tap delay on the market.
We ran the usual tests and was found to be the maximum brightness of the light is, in fact, quite close to the announcement of the one – 498 exist. The setting, the display automatically, but it will increase the brightness of the light in the open air, up to 694 existed. I think we can safely say that the use of the phone, the outdoors was not a problem for us.
The colors are really good, with the Standard-mode, which displays the dE2000 deviation of only 2.4. Also, the standard of the Saturated mode, surprised us with a great, white, and grey detail.
HRR control is another important aspect of the phone is the display, which helps to save battery power. At the same time as you, in order to keep things running smoothly. In the special and in the general application, do not go over 120Hz. Even if the refresh rate was set to be the “Ultimate” (see 144Hz). The next step is to 90, and then, 60Hz, if you would prefer to do this manually.
In addition, the refresh rate does not drop below 120Hz, when you don’t have to interact with the screen. All of the apps are running at 120Hz, including the Chrome browser. YouTube is doing to trigger a reaction, but a lower refresh rate of 60 Hz. Which is a good thing because you don’t need any more than that, for the playing of the video. The same is true for the native video player.
Xiaomi Black Shark 4 Battery life
In our tests, the BlackShark 4, the battery life was amazing. But it was not bad at all for a 4,500 mAh battery. In Standby, and web browsing tests. Which has increased the phone’s overall endurance rating, but it is relatively low talk figures. And video playback tests set up the handset, the overall battery performance is about average. At least, compared to other gaming devices.
Xiaomi Black Shark 4 Speed
The phone uses a bulky 120W charging brick, which is available inside of the box. And when it is combine with the 4,500 mAh battery, and the charging times are extremely short. We couldn’t even have to run for our 30-minute charge testing. As the battery is charge from 0% to 100% in just 19 minutes. It is one of the fastest-charging phones we’ve ever tested.
The Snapdragon 870 is a pretty new Song. Which is a slightly modified version of the Snapdragon 865+ SoC. The connection has been (probably to keep the cost down, but the same Snapdragon X55 5G-capable modem is on board. The Chip is based on a 7nm manufacturing process and has an octa-core CPU with 1 Regulator 585-core @3.2 GHz, 3x Regulator 585 cores @2.42 GHz 4x Regulator 585 cores @1.8 GHz. The Snapdragon 865 has the same PROCESSOR in the configuration. But it is the best arm Cortex-A77 core is ticking away at 3.1 GHz. In both cases, the Adreno 650 GPU is on board, the processor, to 670 MHz.
It is available to the memory of variations, going from 6GB/128GB all the way up to 12GB/128GB of a dedicated 12GB/256GB version is also available. The UFS 3.1 standard, which has been use for the storage of the solution. No storage expansion is possible, however.
The Standard triple-camera setup
Since this is a gaming phone, the cameras are not of high priority. And it is. The main sensor is the 48MP one. Which is the measures 1/2.0″ (zero) in size, and provides a 0.8 µm pixel resolution. The sensor is pair with an f/1.8 aperture.
For the ultrawide, Xiaomi opted for one another. Which is often used as the 8MP sensor that measures 1/4.0″ (zero) in size, 1.12 µm pixel resolution. Lens, f/2.2 aperture, and 120-degree field of view. This is the 8MP camera is widely used in the mid-range handsets.
The third camera is for macro images and interesting, as it uses a 5MP (f/2.4 camera with auto-focus. Which is a better specification than the average.
The front camera is 20MP with f/2.0 opening, and 0.8 µm pixels.
While outdoors, the images are clean, as well as indoor ones to show much more of the noise. Sharpness drops off as well, but most of the detail is left behind. Maybe with a brighter exposure, it would have been nice as well. The other thing that we’ve noticed is that the viewfinder often gives a misleading impression of the actual scene. The things that are always to appear under-exposed in the viewfinder. But it is true, the image shows a very visible most of the time.
Go for the 48MP mode, and bears little to no use at all. You need to have a bit more of the detail of the scene. But you have to sacrifice clarity and overall strength. The Full-resolution images are much noisier, and the HDR algorithm is checked.
There are one particular 2 × zooms of the switch, but we cannot say that the result is very good. As is to be expect. Since this is a cropped image to be scaled back up to 12MP. And you will lose quite a bit of sharpness in the process. Zoom the photos tend to be noisier, as well. But it is a total surrender to match the standard of the photos.
